WHAT IS SMARTLIPO TREATMENT?
Smartlipo is an innovative technique designed specifically for the removal of excess fat and localised adiposity, thanks to the selective interaction of the laser beam with the adipocytes.
The SmartLipo procedure results in the disintegration of the membranes of the lipocytes and the elimination of their contents and fatty areas that are normally resistant to dieting and physical exercise can now be treated through SmartLipo, this laser assisted lipolysis system with a totally revolutionary minimally invasive approach.
HOW DOES SMARTLIPO WORK?
The SmartLipo technique is performed by means of an innovation laser specifically developed for this purpose.
The SmartLipo procedure uses an Nd:YAG laser with extremely short pulses and very high peak of power, in order to avoid tissues heating. This works safely, effectively and with almost no down time.
HOW LONG DOES THE SMARTLIPO PROCEDURE TAKE?
Following the administration of a local anaesthetic to the treatment area, most SmartLipop procedures take approximately one hour to complete, but you should allow at least two hours or more at the clinic.
IS THE SMARTLIPO PROCEDURE SAFE?
Smartlipo is a clinically proven procedure, which has been used worldwide since 2001 gaining FDA (Food and Drugs Adminstration) approval in the USA in 2006.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS FROM THE SMARTLIPO PROCEDURE?
Smartlipo targets the action specifically to the adipocytes and, by coagulating the blood vessels, reduces blood loss without damaging nerves or other tissue structures.
SmartLipo has been tested for several years and numerous reports have already been published on the SmartLipo technique.
Reported side effects from the SmartLipo procedure are rare, but may include pain, bleeding, bruising, nerve damage, infection, seroma (collection of fluid), scarring, persistent symptoms and burns at the treatment site.
DOES THE SMARTLIPO PROCEDURE HURT?
Smartlipo treatment is performed under local anaesthetic. You may experience a minor stinging sensation and a sensation of tugging during the SmartLipo treatment, but this is minimal.

HOW MANY SMARTLIPO TREATMENTS WILL IN NEED?
Initial results from your SmartLipo treatment will be visible fairly quickly, the final result being apparent after three to four months; this allows for the elimination of the lysate and collagen stimulation to cause skin tightening.
The SmartLipo treatment can be repeated on the same area at the discretion of your practitioner.
DOES SMARTLIPO GIVE A PERMANENT EFFECT?
Yes, SmartLipo gives a permanent effect.
SmartLipo can also be used effectively on areas of the body that were previously considered unsuitable for traditional liposuction e.g. the face, forearms, upper part of the abdomen and knees.
WHO IS SUITABLE FOR THE SMARTLIPO TREATMENT?
Suitable candidates for the SmartLipo treatment are generally those who have small stubborn pockets of fat that do not respond easily to dieting and exercise. A full medical history is taken to assess your overall health and suitability, but the following conditions are contra-indicated for a SmartLipo treatment::
- Pregnancy / breast feeding
- Heart pacemakers
- Skin infections in the area to be treated
- Collagen Vascular Diseases e.g. SLE/Lupus, PAN, Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Bleeding or clotting disorders
- Diabetes
- Skin Lesions e.g. cuts/abrasions/grazes
- Keloid
- HIV
- Recent surgery to area to be treated within 6 months
- Persons under the age of 18 years
HOW LONG IS THE SMARTLIPO RECOVERY PERIOD?
You can normally return to your normal activities almost immediately after the SmartLipo procedure, although it is advisable to avoid strenuous sports and sauna activity for two weeks and intense massage for four to five weeks. You are also advised to adhere to a sensible diet.
Depending on the area of SmartLipo treatment you will be required to wear a support garment for several days – your practitioner will advise you further.
HOW MUCH DOES THE SMARTLIPO PROCEDURE COST?
The cost of the SmartLipo procedure depends upon the areas to be treated and will be confirmed for you at consultation with your practitioner.
