How it Works

Obagi Skin Care The Obagi Nu-Derm System, a physician-prescribed skin care system, accelerates the cellular turnover. This System penetrates deep to improve damage in layers of the skin. It boosts functions of the skin at the cellular level to improve skin's cellular function to help it look and act younger and healthier. The System triggers our Therapeutic Cascade™ of actions that:

Protocol for Use

Prepare Cleansing and toning your skin makes it more receptive to the correction process.	GENTLE CLEANSER or FOAMING GEL Apply to wet face, rinse with lukewarm water and gently pat dry. Avoid rubbing the skin with a towel.
	TONER 2 Apply to entire face with a cotton ball or cotton square, avoiding the eye area.
Correct Repairs damage to the skinOs surface, correcting hyperpigmentation (sun and age spots) and uneven skin tone while smoothing skin roughness.	CFFECTIVES 5% and 10% SERUM If recommended, apply to crows feet area (5% Serum), or face, neck and chest area (10% Serum).
	CLEAR 3 Apply Clear evenly on the entire face, extending to the hairline, over the ears and ending with a feathering motion. (Rx only)
	EXFODERM or EXFODERM FORTE 4 Apply evenly over entire face, avoiding the eye area. Wait until the cream is absorbed.
Stimulate Damage to the deeper skin layers is repaired. Skin elasticity is restored by enhancing the production of collagen and elastin.	BLENDER and TRETINOIN Apply 1/2 gram of Blender followed by the prescribed amount of tretinoin. Apply evenly on the entire face, extending to the hairline, over the ears and ending with a feathering motion. 5 (Rx only)
Protect Prevent further damage from harmful UVA and UVB rays.	HEALTHY SKIN PROTECTION SPF 35, SUNFADER SPF 15, or PHYSICAL UV BLOCK SPF 32 g Apply products as instructed by your physician or skin care specialist. Note: Prolonged sun exposure should be avoided for the first month. Sunfader (Rx only)
Control In the event your skin becomes sensitive, dry or has a reaction, especially at the beginning of the treatment, you may add Control products to your protocol. However, they should only be used in moderation, as they slow down the skin Transformation process.	EYE CREAM Recommended to add moisture and soothe the eye area. As needed.
	ACTION Use sparingly only when your skin is uncomfortably dry from peeling or flaking. As needed.
	TOLEREEN Apply this low dose hydrocortisone lotion when you experience itching, burning or redness. As needed.

What to Expect During Each Phase of Your Transformation

During treatment, you can expect to experience four phases as you undergo Transformation to a more healthy and younger-looking appearance. The length of time between the phases will vary based upon multiple factors including patient age, skin type, amount of damage and daily compliance.

Out with the Old

n this initial phase, the damaged top layer of skin is replaced by a new layer of fresh, healthy skin cells. This process takes approximately 6 weeks. During this phase, you can expect to experience one or more of these symptoms:

Your freckles, age spots and dark patches begin fading
Exfoliation and flaking
Redness and dryness
Wrinkles and acne may look worse temporarily

Pain factor. 'It's quite anxiety-provoking. I dosed up on Nurofen and was numbed for an hour with anesthetic gel, but the laser still felt uncomfortable - a scratching pain like sandpaper across my skin. But it only lasts 10 minutes.'
Recovery time. Afterwards my skin was hot, incredibly red and tight like sunburn. I lay low for a day until the red had faded to a pinkish glare, and a day later it was almost gone.
Verdict. Fraxel is the whole number - a facelift without the knife. The pigmented marks on my décolleté have almost gone, my skin is beginning to feel softer and more youthful and, along with some help from Restylane on my upper lip, my lines are definitely fading.'
